"What are they made from?" asked one customer "because from a distance I thought they were resin kits". We expalained that they were card kits, but for once a card kit for the serious modeller.

3DK is a brand new business set up in July of 2008 to give the railway modeller an extremely detailed card kit at an affordable price. A card kit that is so detailed it stops looking and feeling like a card kit. Included in the kit are resing and whitemetal parts to further enhance the kit.

The processe we use for designing our Highland Casting resin kits is very similar to that of our 3DK card kit range. For the resin kits we start with a detailed computer drawing and a basic card mock up. With the 3DK range we tool this basic card mock up to new and exciting levels.

Over a period of a year we took hundreds of photographs of stone and brick walls, windows, doors, drains, roofs etc and digitised them to use in our card kits. We purchased a powerfull computer as the number of images on each sheet is very large, a large colour laser printer to handle the high quality required and a fast printing run. With this we started our business.
